I was wondering if I could get some help. I am looking for a new code for medical to submit to medical insurance. It is for an appliance for the patient to help expand her palate in order for proper airway to move through. It is not TMJ/TMD related or sleep apnea, but could lead to sleep apnea issues as she gets older. Some of the chief complaints are headaches, nerve issues and air way issues. We have submitted these appliances as 21299 to insurance, but I guess medical insurance companies are now saying that code is now inactive. Any suggestions on what other code I can use? They are trying to put it back onto dental but it”s not dental it is for sure medically related. Here are the ICD- 9 codes that were used for this claim before everything switched to ICD-10.
