D9230 – inhalation of nitrous oxide / anxiolysis, analgesia can be crosscoded to: 00170 – Anesthesia for intraoral procedures, including biopsy; not otherwise specified D7210 – Extraction, erupted tooth requiring removal of bone and/or sectioning of tooth, and including elevation of mucoperiosteal flap if indicated Extractions do not have direct crosscodes we are aware of, so you can either bill the “D” code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process “D” codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can use the CPT codes below and include a narrative report describing the procedure: 41899 – Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures As for the diagnosis code(s), based on what you described, here are some options: M26.33 – Horizontal displacement of fully erupted tooth or teeth M26.34 – Vertical displacement of fully erupted tooth or teeth M26.39 – Other anomalies of tooth position of fully erupted tooth or teeth K01.1 – Impacted teeth K01.0 – Embedded teeth K00.4 – Disturbances in tooth formation K00.6 – Disturbances in tooth eruption Z18.32 – Retained tooth Hope this helps!
Hello, I am hoping to get some help here since I exhausted all possible avenues it seems like. My son had his baby tooth surgically removed. Through an accident the tooth got pushed up into his jaw and was not allowing the permanent tooth to form properly. Therefore, after 6 months of waiting and a CT scan, it was determined that the tooth should be removed. I am now having the issue that the dentist office is not familiar with the medical coding system and our health insurance is also not of much help. The dentist initially submitted the claim with the following dental codes: D9230 and D7210 (tooth system JP, tooth number F). If somebody could provide guidance what medical codes could be used I would be very thankful. Thank you in advance. Philip
