Hi Guest! Great question. As you mentioned, some medical insurers will accept the new patient E&M codes 99201-99205 with the GT modifier appended. Some insurers state in their policy for new patient E&M telemedicine visits, you should use: 99499 – Unlisted evaluation and management service Modifier: GT For established patient telemedicine visits, the CPT codes are as follows: • 99421: Online digital evaluation and management service, for an established patient, for up to 7 days, cumulative time during the 7 days; 5–10 minutes • 99422: Online digital evaluation and management service, for an established patient, for up to 7 days cumulative time during the 7 days; 11– 20 minutes • 99423: Online digital evaluation and management service, for an established patient, for up to 7 days, cumulative time during the 7 days; 21 or more minutes. Place of service 02 for telehealth for any of these 🙂 Hope this helps!

I have been looking and researching and it looks as if we use the same 99203 CPT code but change the place of service to 02 for telehealth and modifier code to GT (took place virtually) Anyone have any comments on this???
