Thinking of wrapping my car, but I’m nervous about the paint underneath

So I’ve been toying with the idea of getting my car wrapped for months now, mainly because I’m honestly a bit bored of the factory color and I don’t want to commit to a full respray. I drive a German sedan that’s in pretty good condition, paint-wise, and I’ve heard horror stories about wraps pulling off clear coat or leaving behind horrible adhesive residue when they’re removed. That’s my biggest fear honestly, spending all that money only to ruin the original paintwork underneath. How do you even choose between matte, satin, or gloss finishes? And what about the door jambs, do they wrap those too or does it look weird when you open the doors? Also, how long does a decent wrap actually last in this climate with all the dust and heat? I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences you guys can share before I take the plunge.
